New Zealand mountain bike legend and friend of Cycletech, Simon Kennett finished one of the toughest races in the MTB world, the Great Divide Race in 3rd place with a time of 19 days, 5 hours, 2 minutes.
The Great Divide Race is a fully self-supported, solo competition following the 2,490-mile Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, starting at the US/Canada boarder, traversing Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, finishing at the US/Mexico border, the route demands over 200,000 feet of climbing along it's length. Competitors carry all equipment necessary to negotiate the backcountry, restocking on food and other supplies from the small towns along the route.
UPDATE - Simon's NoTubes wheel review
Simon rode a 69'er Stan's NoTubes wheel set (ZTR355 rims, 29” front with American Classic hub, 26” rear with Hope Pro2 hub, NoTubes Crow tyres and NoTubes sealant).
"The Stans tyres, wheels and sealant worked excellently. I didn't have a single puncture during the 2500 mile race (or in training) and never had to touch my spoke tool, and there were a few rough sections that I really hammered the bike through!"
